2008 "l'eté du Vin Grand Auction"
7.12.08

On this night, some of the world's greatest wine makers, connoisseurs, and collectors gathered in Nashville to attend the 2008 l'ete du Vin Grand Auction. This annual event is the oldest charitable wine auction in the country and is currently the second largest charitable wine auction in the United States. Proceeds from the event go to several cancer research and service organizations in the Nashville area, including Gilda's Club, Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, Camp Horizon, the Dan Rudy Cancer Center, and Make a Wish Foundation. The Gary Musick Company has produced the organization's major events for the past 10 years, and they are among our favorite clients. Each year, several internationally known wine makers are invited to be featured guests of the auction. In return, these wineries donate all of the wine served at the week-long series of tastings and dinners, culminating in the grand auction. They also contribute a significant number of valuable wines from their vineyards' collections to be auctioned at the event. Several hundred thousand dollars were raised during the dinner and auction.

For the past few years, the Grand Auction has been held at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel, a favorite destination for Nashville's leading social and charitable events. The Gary Musick Company handles all event design, decor, and audiovisual production for the auction. Centerpiece designs were created by Elle's Marche des Fleurs.

Congratulations to the Nashville Wine Auction on another fantastic year of events! Special thanks to Executive Director Mike Haney and Director of Events Torrey Barnhill, our key contacts from the auction staff. Also, a big thanks goes to our entire GMC team, especially Brandon Thomas who helped me produce the event, and Jonathan Yeaworth who coordinated the technical aspects of the show.

INTERSTATE BATTERIES — "SUPER SHOW"!
6.12-16.08

The closing party for the Interstate Batteries show was a Superheroes theme party. This was done to compliment the overall goal of celebrating the achievements of the men and women of Interstate Batteries' international system of distributorships.

The party was held at the Marriott Wardman Park, one of the largest hotel's in Washington DC. We created four themed rooms loosely patterned after superhero themes: Superman's Fortress of Solitude, Batman's Bat Cave, a western bar for silver screen Cowboys and Legends, and a "Batt-man's" gameroom. This action packed family oriented event attracted more than 2000 convention attendees and their families. Each room featured themed decor and entertainment that helped create an amazing night of music and fun for everyone.

The highlight of the evening was a performance by "TRIBUTE!", a Las Vegas style show featuring three fantastic celebrity impersonators and a cast of live singers, dancers, and musicians. Guests marveled at performances by "Barry White", "Dolly", and "Tina Turner". All three performers made the audience do double takes to make sure these performers weren't the real thing.

It was an awesome evening and the perfect way to end the 2008 Interstate Convention. Our client passed along rave revues from their attendees, and it was clear the event was enjoyed by all.

"Tina Turner" was totally hot and really got the audience going with her performance of "Proud Mary."

"Dolly" wowed the crowd when she brought one of the male attendees on stage for a little fun and good-natured flirting.

"Barry White" was phenomenal when he performed some of the artist's biggest hits. It was really pretty eire!

Back Yard Burgers 2008 Annual Convention
6.9.08

On behalf of client Performance Marketing Group (PMG), The Gary Musick Company produced the 2008 Annual Convention for Back Yard Burgers, a Nashville-based company with more than 170 restaurants in their system. In addition to a custom-built stage set with functioning doors and lights that emulated their new prototype restaurant, GMC provided all audio, video and lighting production for the convention. The Gary Musick Company would like to thank our friends at PMG and Back Yard Burgers for allowing us to produce the first annual convention for the company under new ownership.

This project was the first in a series of conventions that PMG and The Gary Musick Company are collaborating on, and if this event is any indication of the power of this partnership, the sky is the limit.

Loggins & FOREIGNER Perform for NAED
5.17.08

The Gary Musick Company produced the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Annual Leadership Summit in San Francisco. This was a convention for 1000 of the top executives and owners of the country's largest electrical distributors and equipment manufacturers. This year marked the 100th anniversary of the association, so they pulled out all the stops in terms of entertainment and production. In addition to producing business sessions and award shows, we produced Kenny Loggins and "Foreigner" concerts on consecutive nights during the convention.

The highlight was the closing night party featuring FOREIGNER. It was a major hit with those who attended NAED's 100th Anniversary Gala Awards celebration. It was really fun to watch about 1000 40-60 somethings reliving their youth! It was hilarious to see hundreds of executives in tuxedos and formal gowns swaying in front of the stage with brightly lit cell phones held high overhead (what ever happened to bic lighters?). The band was lead by founder Mick Jones. His guitar solos were amazing, and the rest of the band blazed through nearly an hour and a half of classic rock hits from the band's stellar career. I think the audience's favorite was "HOT BLOODED". The members of the band could not have been more gracious, and the crowd really had a blast. It was the perfect ending for the association's 100th year celebration.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS "UNMASKED" BALL
2.25.08

This annual event is produced by GMC producer Curt Wallen. The theme this year was "Unmasked Hollywood". The Predators Ball benefits the Predators Foundation, one of Nashville's leading philanthropic organizations supporting children's charitable organizations. We had a great time! Many of the guests dressed as favorite characters from classic Hollywood movies. Our scenic team built a mock up of a Lexus SUV which was used as a gimmick to introduce the Predators team members. Giant mock ups of Hollywood movie posters encircled the floor of the Sommet Center where the Nashville's NHL Predators play their home games. The dinner was staged on a thermal floor laid over the ice.

The event was great fun and raised a good bit of money for the Predators Foundation. We have produced the event every year since it started some 10 years ago.

First Tennessee Horizon Awards
2.20.08

The Gary Musick Company had the privilege of producing the Horizon Awards for one of our long-time clients, First Tennessee Bank. The Horizon Awards honors the top performing bankers in First Tennessee's network of financial centers and service locations. More than 325 guests enjoyed a relaxing 3-day meeting and incentive trip to Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa in Fort Meyers, Florida. The highlight of the conference was the actual Horizon Awards dinner on Friday night. Our GMC team created an evening of elegance and sophistication with a tropical Asian flair. We used giant Japanese lantern set pieces, elegant damask linens, and exotic orchid centerpieces to help make the evening a memorable one for our guests. Saturday evening featured an awards presentation for a smaller group of about 100 individuals who were also high achievers in the First Tennessee Family. This was the Leadership Circle awards. The decor for the evening was based on a silver and platinum color palette, with floral centerpieces placed in silver julip cups. We again assisted with the staging of the AV, sound, and lighting for the evening.

CYDCOR Atlanta for Orion Performance Group
2.9.08

The Gary Musick Company teamed with Bill Schreiber of Orion Performance Group to a corporate meeting for CYDCOR in Atlanta! It has been a great success for our client and our shows. The Saturday morning opening general session started with a motivational video, put together for us by Video Editor Greg Tipton, helped set the tone for the conference theme..."Growing Opportunity".

One section of the show featured a cast of our singers and dancers in a Broadway style tribute to Raff Diaz, one of CYDCOR's up-and-coming associates who received a major promotion. The number was a big hit with the audience.

GMC also produced a dinner and show that featured an Asian theme in honor of the week's Chinese New Year celebration. A cast of 10 performers came from Nashville to perform a traditional Chinese "Lion Dance" and "Dragon Dance" as part of CYDCOR's awards ceremony. Both numbers were choreographed in-house by Claire Williams. The show closed with a highlights video staged, shot and edited by our videographer, Gabe McCauley, and Associate Producer Brandon Thomas. The video featured the conference attendees in an entertaining montage of staged and candid shots edited to the music "All Star". The audience loved it!

William Morris Agency Holiday Party
12.6.07

One of our favorite events to produce each year is the William Morris Agency holiday open house. William Morris is one of the largest and oldest talent agencies in the world, with clients who are among some of the most prominent names in the entertainment world. This year we turned the parking deck of the agency's Nashville headquarters into a silver, blue and white "club" environment where more than 450 artists, managers, agents, and music industry titans came together for an evening of holiday cheer.

We completely enclosed the sides of their parking garage and heated, decorated, and carpeted the interior. The folks at William Morris said it was the best event we'd produced so far! Thanks to the GMC staff who worked such long hours in the freezing December air to set up the event!

One of the highlights of the party was the sushi bar that featured twin 250 gallon aquariums filled with freshwater tropical fish. Throughout the evening, a chef prepared fresh sushi on a cutting board atop the tanks. Our team of artists created a mock up of the William Morris logo that looked like it had been carved from coral. It was very cool! A large display of fresh "Fruits d' Mer" complimented the sushi.

The Gary Musick Company supplied scenic elements for several Country Musick Awards after parties for David Holloway and Associates. Here is what the Trade Organization had to say:

HMS - A+. One of the coolest booths ever and a couple of rows off the expensive center aisle at that. It was build to look like a '50s diner and had a couple of girls with big hair snapping gum and wisecracking in their pink waitress uniforms. One of few booths that was fun, despite a small space and less-than-prime location. Great job. The girls were fun. Worth a trip.
